This trauma-informed, advanced workshop will focus on a review of evidence-based approaches in working with complex addiction clients. DSM criteria will be reviewed. CBT, ACT, contingency management, harm reduction (including pharmacological interventions) and Motivational Interviewing will be discussed and practiced through case analysis in this learning experience. Participants are expected to bring cases from their own practice to this workshop for discussion. Prior knowledge of addiction and counselling is essential.
Note: Recommend participants attend Motivational Interviewing or have a solid understanding of Motivational Interviewing principles and techniques.
