Although the Training Centre’s mandate is to provide training for staff who are employed in the Toronto Shelter, Respite, Drop-In sectors, we will accept individuals who are not employed in the sector. However, priority is given to our mandated agencies for all THTC training.

The Training Centre does not accept personal cheques.
There are two training fees listed in our calendar. The lower fee is our training rate for members and the higher fee is our training rate for non-members. There is a ten (10) dollar difference between each training rate. Depending upon the workshop, the training rates vary.

Please note, the Training Centre does not maintain a waitlist. However, you are free to contact THTC a few days prior to the session taking place, to see if there has been a last minute cancellation. Should there be a future date offered, you can register for the same workshop at a later date.
The Toronto Hostels Training Centre is located at 65 Wellesley Street East, Suite 501, Toronto, ON M4Y 1G7.
The Training Centre is open from 8:30am -4:30pm Monday to Friday. The Centre is not open weekends or statutory holidays. If one is coming in to register for training or has inquiries regarding the training offered, we recommend coming into the Centre between 10:30am – 2pm, in order to avoid our most busy times. If one wants to ensure one-on-one registration assistance, we recommend calling ahead and making an appointment 416-469-0007.
The Training Centre requires seven (7) business days (does not include weekends or statutory holidays), written cancellation notice in order for an individual/agency not be charged the full cost of the training. The Centre will not be held financially responsible for cancellations not received within the seven (7) business day cancellation period. It is the responsibility of the prospective agency and/or individual to ensure that the cancellation has been received by the Toronto Hostels Training Centre. If the registrant cannot attend, an alternate may be sent in their place. Please telephone, fax or email to register an alternate. The Toronto Hostels Training Centre starts classroom and live online workshops on time. If one arrives or logs on later than half an hour past the start time of the scheduled session you will not be issued a certificate and/or you will be refused admittance. This also includes leaving the workshop early or leaving the class while the session is still underway. If one does not receive a certificate of attendance due to late arrival, the workshop is incomplete and the full cost of the workshop applies. If one is refused admittance due to late arrival, the full cost of the workshop applies. If one wishes to contest any of the Training Centre’s policies submit the complaint in writing to the Executive Director within 30 days of the event otherwise the request will not be considered. If the charge back fees are waived only a credit will be issued. Please note all requests will be verified with the employee’s supervisor. All decisions are final. The Training Centre does not currently provide classroom or live online training in the evening or on weekends. The Training Centre also offers self-paced online training https://store.thtcentre.com/
Yes, all classroom training takes place at 65 Wellesley Street E. Suite 501 – unless indicated in the calendar and/or by the Training Centre. The Toronto Hostels Training Centre reserves the right to change workshops, dates, fees and regulations at any time, and to cancel particular workshops if under-enrolled. If workshops are cancelled, the Training Centre will be responsible for crediting the workshop fees only.
Due to insurance and liability issues, the Centre is only able to provide training for individuals who are the age of majority. Unfortunately, the Training Centre does not provide baby-sitting services for classroom training and children cannot attend training with their caregiver.
The building is accessible. There are two elevators and an all gender accessible washroom located on the third floor of the building. If additional assistance is required, please advise THTC staff at (ruth@thtcentre.com or 416-469-0007 ext. 22). NOTE: Confirmed participants requiring special accommodation for either the classroom and/or live online training, please contact the Training Centre (ruth@thtcentre.com or 416-469-0007 ext. 22) at least seven (7) business days prior to the confirmed training session.
Each workshop within a certificate can be taken as a stand alone.

If you feel you have completed a certificate program, we suggest contacting the Centre to ensure this is correct and to make sure the Centre has your updated contact information. Once a certificate program is completed, the Toronto Hostels Training Centre’s certificate issuance coincides with the end of each calendar period. For the Fall/Winter training schedule the deadline for completion is August 31st. For the Spring/Summer training schedule the deadline for completion is February 28th. Certificate recipients for the year will also be invited to attend THTC’s Annual General Meeting in early Spring.
