This course focuses on select Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills that have been adapted in a way so that that they can be used in brief interactions for frontline workers.
Participants will learn effective ways to utilize these skills with an emphasis on distress tolerance and emotional regulation. Participants will gain knowledge through activities and worksheets.
Learning Objectives
– A brief overview of DBT
– The four components of DBT will be highlighted
– Select adapted skills from each component will be discussed with the goal of providing participants with tools that are effective and useful with marginalized populations
– To learn how to utilize worksheets in a way that is accessible to the clientele of front-line workers
Bio:
Zanna Seipp-Katz holds an undergraduate degree from Ryerson University (now, TMU) and a graduate degree from the University of Toronto, both in Social Work. Zanna spent the first 6 years of her career working as a frontline worker, supporting individuals with substantial mental health and addiction concerns. While her focus remains similar, Zanna has been in Private Practice providing direct therapeutic support for the past 3 years.
