Please read all Policies & Procedures and Terms & Conditions carefully. Should you not agree with any Policies & Procedures and/or Terms & Conditions, please do not use the website.
CODE OF CONDUCT
The Toronto Hostels Training Centre encourages the exchange of information and ideas within a safe and respectful environment. Accordingly, all individuals accessing the Training Centre, onsite, in the community or virtually shall behave in a professional and responsible manner. These individuals include, but are not limited to: THTC staff, program participants, agency representatives, course instructors and volunteers. Failure to behave in a professional and respectful manner may result in the individual(s) being asked to leave the premises and/or the live online training session. All personnel, Board of Directors, staff, course instructors, workshop participants and volunteers shall adhere to the letter and spirit of the Human Rights Code of Ontario, the Toronto Hostels Training Centre Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Policy and Workplace Violence and Harassment in the Workplace Policies including Bill 132.
The Toronto Hostels Training Centre has a zero-tolerance policy towards the following:
- Violent or threatening behaviour toward THTC staff, instructors, and/or other participants; weapons are strictly prohibited from entering THTC property.
- Interfering in the ability of another person to participate in our sessions in an environment that is safe, healthy, and productive.
- Negligence or any careless action, which endangers the life or safety of an employee or other person.
- Other behaviours deemed to interfere with the ability of the Toronto Hostels Training Centre to provide an environment that is safe, healthy, and productive for all.
Anyone found impeding with the ability of the Toronto Hostels Training Centre to provide an environment that is safe, healthy, and productive for all will be asked to stop the specific behaviour(s). If they are unable or unwilling to stop the behaviour(s), they will be asked to leave the premises (whether physical or virtual) until such time as they can behave in a manner consistent with this policy. If an individual is unwilling to leave, and staff determines it is appropriate, further support will be called. If such behaviour does occur, participants may not receive a certificate and/or may be asked to leave the premises. Participants may also be restricted from participating in future training sessions for a period. All incidents will be investigated and assessed by the Executive Director.
TRAINING AGE
The Toronto Hostels Training Centre’s mandate is to provide training to those 18 years of age and older. Due to liability issues, the Centre cannot train individuals under 18 years of age.
By registering for training, participants agree that they are at least 18 years of age by the training date. If it is discovered that the participant is not 18 years or older, they will be removed from training.
Participants are not permitted to bring children to any training session. If a participants brings (a) child(ren), they will be refused entry into the training session. Toronto Hostels Training Centre does not take responsibility for children left unattended. If a participant is refused entry into a training session, they are not eligible for a refund or rescheduling to a new training session.
COURSE ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES
All participants are expected to arrive on time for training. Participants who arrive thirty (30) or more minutes after the course’s scheduled start time will not be permitted access to the course. Participants who depart thirty (30) or more minutes prior to the course’s scheduled end time will not be provided a course certificate. Should a participant miss thirty (30) or more minutes of training, they are not eligible to receive a certificate and are not eligible for a refund or rescheduling to a new course.
Absences and/or missed time will be reported to the Toronto Hostels Training Centre Manager, who will then report to the Agency Manager (if applicable).
These times are non-negotiable.
PARTICIPANT CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT
It is understood those attending classroom and live online training through the Toronto Hostels Training Centre (THTC) agree all discussions, case examples, either clinical or organizational, and all comments made by workshop participants during training sessions and while participating in training at THTC shall be considered strictly confidential. Under no circumstances will the information in those communications be discussed with anyone unless there are suspected abuses disclosed.
Recording, taping and photographing classroom and online training are strictly prohibited.
If suspected abuses are disclosed Toronto Hostels Training Centre Policies are to be strictly followed.
WAIVER REQUIREMENTS
All participants must complete a Toronto Hostels Training Centre Waiver before partaking in the following training sessions:
- CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
- Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (U.M.A.B.) Two or Three-Day Course
- Trauma-Informed Crisis Intervention
- Standard First Aid, CPR (Level C) and AED Two Day Training
- Standard First Aid, CPR (Level C) and AED Recertification Course
- Emergency First Aid and CPR
THTC ENCOURAGES A FRAGRANCE FREE ENVIRONMENT
Please be aware that Toronto Hostels Training Centre strongly encourages a fragrance-free environment. We kindly request that participants do not wear strong perfumes/colognes. Kindly note that THTC’s training rooms are small and some participants attending training have intolerance and/or allergies to scents.
Please also be mindful as certain food odours can elicit severe allergic reactions in some individuals (e.g. peanuts, seafood, etc.). Should a participant alert THTC of a severe allergy, THTC will do its best to inform other participants (with explicit permission).
MEMBERSHIP
- THTC does not back date membership rates. Membership fees must be received before the time of the workshop registration in order for the reduced training rate to be applied.
- The cancellation and re-registration of paid workshops in order to apply the membership rate will not be accepted.
- THTC will not be held financially responsible and will not provide refunds for over payment i.e. member rate vs. non-member rate.
- It is the responsibility of the registrant to be aware of any fee discounts to which they may be entitled, based on the course taken or on their agency’s affiliations.
- THTC does not refund membership fees. If you are unsure about becoming a member and require more information, please contact the Office Administrator before submitting your request.

USE OF THTC's WEBSITES
The materials, collateral and information detailed on the THTC Websites are protected by Canadian copyright laws.
You shall only be entitled to view and make a copy of the information for your own personal and/or non–commercial use provided that you do not delete, obstruct or change any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices and provide full ownership credit to THTC. You may not sell or modify the information or republish, reproduce, display, publicly perform, distribute or otherwise use any substantial part of the information in any manner whatsoever, including electronically reproducing by uploading, downloading or accessing the information on the Internet or any local or international computer system, without the prior written permission of THTC or the appropriate copyright holder.
